From business development to operational excellence, we utilize an integrated, common sense approach to problem solving. Our team manages the teleneurology, intraoperative neuromonitoring, and neurodiagnostic studies professional services across the United States.
Gene K. Balzer, Ph.D. (Chief Executive Officer)
Dr. Balzer began his clinical career in intra-operative monitoring in 1981 and started NeuroDynamic Systems in 1991. Dr. Balzer was a founder of the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring and the American Board of Neurophysiological Monitoring and has over 100 professional publications and presentations. Dr. Balzer served as the Technical Director of the Minneapolis Neuroscience Institute, Corporate Vice President of Medcenter One Health Systems and CEO of Campbell County Memorial Hospital, integrating a community of health care and demonstrating a remarkable bottom line margin of over 15%. Dr. Balzer led Biotronic NeuroNetwork to first in industry Joint Commission accreditation and remarkable growth and profitability. Dr. Balzer is a Fellow in the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring and recently founded the American NeuroMonitoring Association trade association. Dr. Balzer is a member of the medical staff of Shriners Hospital for Children in Minneapolis, MN.

Brian Bechard (Director of Information Technology)
Serving as RTNA’s Director of Information Technology, Brian loves putting the right technology tools in place to help people be most effective at their jobs. For the past 27 years, he has used his expertise to develop technology solutions for small startups to large multinational corporations in industries ranging from publishing and manufacturing to financial services. His experience focuses on operations, strategy, infrastructure, data security, regulatory compliance, project management and staffing development. Outside of the office, you can find Brian enjoying time with his wife and kids, playing volleyball and poker, and learning more about chess and cars.

Elizabeth Bouffanie, MS, R. EEG T, CNIM (Leader of Physician Experience)
Since 2009, Elizabeth has been a contributing member to the field of intraoperative neuromonitoring. With an extensive background in IONM, Elizabeth has held roles as a clinician, IONM educator and coordinator, EEG/IONM/EMU labs manager, board member, and professor. Her work has led to her current role as RTNA’s Leader of Physician Experience where she focuses on operations, scheduling and clinical coordination.
Elizabeth entered IONM to explore her passion for neuroscience. She shares her love for the field as an associate professor at Laboure College where she teaches neuroanatomy and physiology in relation to surgical procedures and is a current board member for ABRET.
Outside of the office, you can find Elizabeth exploring Nashville with her dog and wife, exercising and making holiday crafts.

LaQuita Crutcher (Administrative Assistant)
LaQuita is the Administrative Assistant at RTNA and loves helping people understand the role of RTNA physicians during surgery. She has spent the majority of her career working with local and state governments gaining experience in unemployment, taxes, and claims. Combining her background experience and current role, LaQuita is exploring her passion for legality in the medical field. When she is not at RTNA, LaQuita enjoys spending time with friends and family and listening to music.
Kiara Ebinger, Ph.D., DABNM (Director of Quality and Education)
For the last 16 years, Kiara has been exploring her passion for Electrophysiology and gaining experiences in areas such as teaching and quality assurance. Kiara began her career with RTNA when the doors opened and is currently working as, the Director of Quality and Education. In this role, Kiara is focused on keeping teams engaged and excited about continuing education while contributing to elevating the level of knowledge in the IONM field and improving the quality of care. While quality and education are Kiara’s primary job functions, in her downtime, she loves playing with her dogs and watching hockey.

Barbie Lee (Medical Staff Coordinator)
As RTNA’s Medical Staff Coordinator, Barbie loves being able to make sense of continuing medical education requirements and finding the appropriate courses to meet those requirements for our physicians. Barbie has been a part of the team since 2010, and the most rewarding part of her job is getting to help thousands of patients without ever meeting them; as patient care and safety, all start in the medical staff office with the physician application process. She has over ten years of medical field experience and her expertise lies in the areas of licensing, credentialing, Joint Commission processes and continuing medical education. Outside of the office, Barbie enjoys jazz music, reading, going to estate sales, and spending time with her partner and pets.

Natalie Miller (Controller)
Natalie enjoys working as an accountant most when she is able to help demystify bookkeeping and business accounting practices to others. As RTNA’s Controller, the most rewarding part of her job is being able to access, extract, compile and deliver the financial intelligence data needed by decision-makers to make the tough tactical and strategic decisions that maintain business competitiveness and success. With 18 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, Natalie loves helping others better understand the accounting life cycle and their responsibilities to the overall financial health of their department and the company.

Brenda Procter (Economic Data Specialist)
Brenda has spent the majority of her career in the journalism field gaining experiences in areas such as editing and reporting. Her background gives her a unique perspective as RTNA’s Economic Data Specialist where she focuses on numbers and human resources duties. For Brenda, the most rewarding part of her job is being a part of a collaborative process to run a business that provides a specialty service to patients. When she is not focusing on RTNA’s people and processes, Brenda enjoys reading and hanging out with her family.
Beth Wells, BS, CNIM (Leader of Client Experience)
Beth is the Leader of Client Experience at RTNA and loves devising solutions that result in happy clients and happy physicians. She has spent the majority of her career in the IONM field, gaining experiences in training and educating clinical and technical teams, marketing, business development, and quality assurance. At RTNA, Beth focuses her 14 years of industry knowledge on developing creative strategies to improve efficiency, as well as job performance and satisfaction.
While client experience is her primary job function by day, she is passionate about healthcare and technology and enjoys exploring Nashville, traveling, and loving her dog, Polly.
